I have been shooting photography for a few years now. At first it was for a project I had to complete in a Photoshop basic class. Once I learned that there was a limit to the size of a photo you could pull off the internet vs the unlimited possibilities when you have the equipment, knowledge, and desire to create your own, it was a no brainer for me. I brought a camera!
Fast forward to today and to say photography is something I enjoy is an understatement. I love it, no really... I LOVE IT! If I could spend my days creating images, connecting with people to capture authentic portraits, and crafting impactful stories through images, that is where you would find me. I pay close attention to language, so yes I noticed that I started that last sentance with "If", let me be clear and intentional with my words. I WILL spend my days shooting photos! In order to make this happen I need to work at it, plan for it, and execute consistently. To be completely transparent and keep it 100, work ethnic has never been an issue, planning is not a strength, and execution in not a problem, but consistency and I are not aligned.
With that being said, the title of this blog post is Photography Goals 2017: INTENTIONS. In 2017 my plan is based in specific intentions and focus. So here is where I'm at:
- The intention is to shoot as much as possible. No overthinking it, no second guessing, no fear! My focus will be in three specific areas:
- PORTRAITS - Reach out, set a time and place, show up and execute.
- FITNESS - Less sex, more honest, more storytelling, sometimes it's dark and thats ok, the process and struggle is the inspiration.
- STORYTELLING - If you connect with your consumer they will trust you, if you try to lead without trust you become a trend. Trends come and go, lets build a brand that stands the test of time.
- In these three areas the goal is to do the following:
- Shoot, edit, and post to my blog a minimum of 2x a month
"effective goal achievement include writing goals down, sharing goals and providing confides with one's progress updates"
See you in June with a progress update. -Jesse
