Humpday...midweek recharge...the halfway point of a week? It can be called many things and it means something different to each person. At the end of the day it's Wednesday.
I found myself on a walk on the SW waterfront of Portland last week. I approached the Tilikum Crossing Bridge and realized it was my first time seeing it up close. I had my camera with me and was immediately moved to walk across it and shoot. Interestingly enough the Tilikum Crossing Bridge began construction in 2011 (when I arrived in Portland), and was opened to the public in September of 2015 (a year when my life changed direction). I was able to witness the construction and it was a constant reminder of home, Boston. There is a bridge in Boston called the Zakim Bridge, and it is also a cable-stayed bridge and they look almost exactly the same.
As I walked the bridge there was a mix of emotional reflection and a curious energy for the new experience that was happening in the moment. There was reflection of the past, how the city of Portland has changed and what I have been able to experience here to this point. Also happening was the energy from exploring the bridge, taking in the views, and structure through my camera view finder.
The past is the past and I choose to live without regret. These photos for me represent a emotional, spiritual, and directional move forward. I almost didn't share these because in my creative process the images are not perfect, but neither is life. Enjoy the set below and all feeback is appreciated and welcomed. -Jesse
